IMPORTANT NOTICE:

NOTIFICATION OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2022 AND APPLICATION TO SERVE AS A TRUSTEE

Notification of STAND’s Annual General Meeting for 2022

The STAND Committee would like to inform the membership and other interested parties that STAND’s Constitution determines that the charity’s AGM for this year will be held at the New Walton Club, Walton Street, Hull on Tuesday  28th June 2022 at 7pm.

We hope you can attend in order to review the progress the group has made in the last twenty four months, and meet the incumbent Committee who have managed the charity during that Covid-19 extended period.

Documents available at the event will include copies of the Minutes of the last Annual General Meeting, the Independent Annual Audit Report up to 31st March 2022 and the Agenda for the evening’s business.

In keeping with our Constitutional procedures, once the past issues have been discussed, all the incumbent members (Trustees) on the Committee will relinquish their roles, but may if they wish, apply for re-election.

Any STAND member may apply for any vacancy on the Committee. In order to do so they can download an application form from the STAND website. All applications must be seconded by another STAND member.  Completed applications should be sent no later than Friday 24th June 2022 to STAND c/o 29 Summergroves Way, Hessle Road, Hull, HU4 6SZ. Applications may also be accepted on the evening of the AGM.

In the event of more than one member submitting an application, a show of hands voted by the attendant membership shall determine which applicant is successful.

The Committee look forward to your attendance and welcomes your valued participation.

STAND Membership Renewal Letter 2022 – 2023

Dear Member

The last two years have been difficult for most charities due to the pandemic. Fundraising, which includes Membership subscription, is the vital means by which STAND manages its day to day running costs and most importantly, helps us realise our aims and objectives.

The ability to survive and progress for any charitable organisation is dependent on its Membership. Therefore, we thank those members that have remained committed to supporting us and we hope their loyalty is rewarded this year with the completion of the permanent tribute to Lost Trawlermen; a cause to which we have all worked tirelessly.

If, due to the ills of the virus you were unable to renew last year, we would welcome and appreciate you considering once again joining us in membership.

Unavoidable delays have caused us to be late with sending out membership renewal requests but it is now time when we are duty bound to renew our membership for the current year for the period from the 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2023, with the subscription fee being set the same as last year.

Individual Membership – £3 annually

Each spouse of a couple – £2 annually

PLEASE NOTE : MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO EVERYONE – ALL ARE WELCOME. PLEASE JOIN US.

STAND’s AGM has been postponed throughout the period of the pandemic with incumbent Trustees kindly serving a double term of office for which I would like to thank them.

STAND’s business accounts are audited annually by Accountants G. Crumpton & Son and the document for the year 2021 to 2022 will be available to all members at the AGM ** (see above for all AGM details)

At this moment in time we can tell you that the planning and construction of the St. Andrews Lost Trawlermen’s Memorial Project is now being progressed by Project Managers: Citycare who are currently in talks with Hull City Council re: appointment of contractors via their Council Framework Agreement. Once this documentation is completed, which we hope is imminent, structural construction can begin.

In January 2022 our Annual Lost Trawlermen’s Day Memorial Service was held at St. John the Baptist Church, St. Georges Road which, with some relaxation in restrictions, attracted an almost full congregation to a very poignant Service with musical accompaniment by the City of Hull Brass Band.  The next Service will be held on Sunday the 29th January 2023.

STAND sends our best wishes and hope you all kept safe during the extremely difficult times.

Kind Regards

Ron Wilkinson on behalf of STAND

Chairman
